Pass an exchange code like NYSE or LSE to get current open status (open, closed, weekend or holiday), the holiday name, official exchange name, and session hours. On paid plans, add schedule=true for the exchange's local time, half-day early closes, and the next open and close with a countdown in minutes.

Stock Market Open Times evaluates the current moment in the exchange's own timezone against its regular session hours and a rule-based holiday calendar, so weekends, holidays and early-close half-days resolve for any year. Does the response tell me if an exchange is actively trading right now?

Yes. Alongside opening and closing datetimes, the response includes a status indicator confirming whether the market is currently open at the time of your request.

How far does the Starter plan go for checking market hours?

Each lookup consumes 2 credits. The Starter plan provides 100,000 lookups every month, working out to $0.0003 per call or $0.30 per 1,000 calls. The Free plan includes 100 calls per month for testing.

Do I get the exchange timezone on the Free plan?

No, the timezone field is reserved for paid plans, as is everything schedule=true adds: local time, half-day details, the next open and close, and the minutes-until-change countdown. Free plan requests return the exchange code, full name, open status, holiday name, and opening and closing times.

What information is returned for each exchange lookup?

Each query returns the exchange code, the complete official name of the stock exchange, its scheduled opening and closing times, a boolean indicating whether trading is currently active, a status of open, closed, weekend or holiday, and the holiday name when one applies.

Can I find out when an exchange opens or closes next?

Yes, on paid plans. Add schedule=true and the response includes the exchange's local time, whether today is an early-close half-day and when it closes, and the next open and close as ISO 8601 times with the minutes remaining until the next change. Holidays and weekends are skipped automatically.

How accurate are the holiday calendars?

US venues, LSE, Euronext, Frankfurt and Tokyo use exchange-specific holiday and half-day rules. Other exchanges use national public holidays as an approximation, which can differ from the exchange's own calendar. On paid plans, the calendarVerified field (with schedule=true) tells you which applies.

Can I display these trading hours in a commercial finance product?

Yes, commercial use is allowed on all paid plans. You can present market schedules and open statuses directly inside your own application, but you cannot resell or redistribute the raw dataset as a standalone service.

Authentication

Send your key in the x-api-key header. That is the only auth step — no token exchange, and no per-endpoint scope to configure.

A 401 means the key is missing, invalid or expired. A 403 means the key is valid but not permitted here — blocked by a key restriction or an IP allow-list. Running out of credits is a 429.

Paths are relative to data. Premium fields are absent rather than zeroed on plans that do not include them, so check for presence instead of comparing to 0.

Response headers

Every response carries your balance, so your own code always knows where it stands without polling anything. All four are exposed to browsers through CORS.

Errors

Read the HTTP status first, then error for the specific reason. The body names the parameter that has to change.
