About the Platinum Price API

The API polls live precious metal markets and delivers spot rates across troy ounces, grams, and kilograms. By default, responses return quotes in USD with 24-hour price change amounts and directional trends. Upgrading to a paid plan lets you convert prices into 172 world currencies, view 24-hour high and low ranges, or pull 24 hours of hourly price snapshots. Use it for today's platinum price per troy ounce (oz), per gram or per kilogram. The last 30 daily closes are stored too: paid plans get the 7- and 30-day change and the 30-day high, low, average and volatility, and daily=true returns the closes themselves.

What people use it for

Jewelry Inventory Valuation
When revaluing finished jewelry stock, retail catalog systems calculate replacement costs based on spot platinum prices per gram.
Bullion Checkout Rates
Bullion dealers lock in customer checkout totals by converting ounce rates into local purchase prices right before payment capture.
Scrap Metal Intake
Price scrap catalytic converters accurately by referencing live per-kilogram platinum values and day-over-day change directions during intake.
Commodities Portfolio Tracking
To monitor precious metal allocations, wealth management dashboards track spot rates and 24-hour price shifts to calculate daily asset swings.

Questions.

Common questions about the Platinum Price API.

Read the docs →
Which units and currencies are supported?
The Free plan returns USD; paid plans can choose any of 172 ISO 4217 currencies. Every call provides simultaneous price figures per troy ounce, gram, and kilogram, along with an ISO 8601 timestamp for the latest update.
How far does the Starter plan go for platinum price checks?
Starter covers 100,000 platinum price checks each month, which works out to about $0.30 per 1,000 calls. Each request uses 2 credits. The Free plan includes 100 calls per month for testing.
Are 24-hour highs, lows, and custom currencies included on the Free plan?
No. Selecting a custom currency, retrieving 24-hour highs and lows, viewing percentage changes, and accessing hourly snapshots require a paid subscription. Upgrading to Starter or above also unlocks pre-formatted price strings with currency symbols.
How far back does the price history go?
Yes. The last 30 daily closes are stored, so paid plans get the 7- and 30-day change, the 30-day high, low, average and volatility, and daily=true returns each day's closing price per ounce, converted at that day's exchange rate. Setting hourly=true adds hourly snapshots for the trailing 24 hours. History older than 30 days is not available.
Can I use platinum prices in a commercial portfolio or commerce app?
Yes, commercial use is permitted on all paid plans. You can use Platinum Price data inside your store, portfolio calculator, or customer dashboard, but you cannot resell or redistribute the raw data feed.
