About the Bitcoin Price API
A Bitcoin API for apps that need the BTC price as JSON. Bitcoin Price works by fetching the latest market data for Bitcoin from multiple reliable sources. It returns the current price and its movement direction; paid plans add market capitalization, 24-hour trading volume, 24-hour percentage change, and quotes in any supported currency. Paid plans also get 1-hour, 7-day, 30-day and 1-year changes, market-cap rank, circulating and maximum supply, fully diluted valuation, and the all-time high and low with their dates and the distance from the high. The data is refreshed hourly. The last 30 daily closes are stored too: paid plans get the 30-day high, low, average and volatility, and daily=true returns the closes themselves, each converted at that day's exchange rate.

Which currencies can I quote Bitcoin in?
The API supports 172 world currencies. The Free plan returns USD; on paid plans, you specify the target currency code with each request to receive the price, market cap, and trading volume denominated in that currency.
How many price lookups does the Free plan cover?
The Free plan covers 100 price lookups per month. Each request uses 2 credits from your monthly 200 credit allowance. On the Starter plan, you get 100,000 lookups, which works out to about $0.30 per 1,000 calls.
Do I get 24-hour trading volume and market cap on the Free plan?
No, those fields require a paid plan. The Free plan returns the base Bitcoin price in USD, the direction of change, and the update timestamp. Market cap, 24-hour volume, 24-hour highs and lows, supply and all-time-high data, 1-hour to 1-year changes, 30-day stats, hourly and daily history, and custom currency conversions are available on any paid plan.
What happens if I omit the hourly or daily parameter?
Those arrays are simply left out. On a paid plan, hourly=true adds price snapshots for the last 24 hours and daily=true adds the last 30 daily closes, each converted at that day's exchange rate. The 30-day high, low, average and volatility are returned either way.
Does the API provide display-ready formatted values?
Yes, on paid plans. In addition to raw numbers, the response includes formatted strings with currency symbols and thousand separators, human-readable market cap and volume using unit letters, and the price written out in words.
Can I display Bitcoin prices from this API in a commercial application?
Yes, as long as you are subscribed to a paid plan. You can use the price and market data inside your own dashboard, app, or website, but you cannot resell or redistribute the raw API data.
Request parameters — GET /v1/bitcoin
Sent in the query string. Premium parameters are accepted on every plan but only take effect on plans that include them. Anything not listed here is dropped rather than passed through.

401 is the only auth verdict
A 401 means the key is missing, invalid or expired. A 403 means the key is valid but not permitted here — blocked by a key restriction or an IP allow-list. Running out of credits is a 429.

Every response carries your balance, so your own code always knows where it stands without polling anything. All four are exposed to browsers through CORS.

Errors
Read the HTTP status first, then error for the specific reason. The body names the parameter that has to change.

What a call costs — 2 credits per call
Credits are shared across every APIVerve API — one balance, one key, one bill. Failed requests never count against it, so a rejected input costs nothing.
