Street Address Parser API

GET

Break raw US addresses into clean, structured fields.

Street Address Parser is an address parsing API that breaks raw US street addresses into structured location components. Pass any single-line address string to extract the building number, directional, street name, street type, unit, city, state abbreviation, and postal code. Set standardize=true to get the address type (street, PO box or intersection) free, and on paid plans the mailing-format delivery line, last line and ZIP+4.

About the Street Address Parser API

Street Address Parser works by analyzing the US street address provided and splitting it into its components: street number, directional prefix and suffix, street name, street type, secondary unit, city, state and ZIP code. Intersections such as "Main St and 5th Ave" come back as two streets. PO boxes, written as PO Box, P.O. Box, POB or Post Office Box, come back as sec_unit_type "PO Box" with the box number, city, state and ZIP code. With standardize=true the response adds a standardized block: the address type is free, while the delivery line, last line and ZIP+4 extension require a paid plan. The parser formats what you send; it does not check the address against postal records.

What people use it for

Mailing Label Printing
To prepare bulk shipping labels, fulfillment software isolates street numbers, street types, and ZIP codes from freeform buyer text.
Real Estate Ingestion
When property portals ingest raw MLS remarks, backend pipelines extract city and state abbreviations to index homes into regional search databases.
Voter Registration Intake
Separate unformatted residential entries into discrete building numbers and street names to match voter registrations against county records.
Tax Jurisdiction Lookup
Accounting platforms assign municipal sales tax rates by breaking customer billing strings into standardized city names and state codes.

Questions.

Common questions about the Street Address Parser API.

Read the docs →
Which plan fits 50,000 parsed addresses a month?
Starter easily covers that volume. Each request costs 2 credits, giving you 100,000 parses every month on Starter, which works out to about $0.30 per 1,000 calls. If you only need to run tests or build a prototype, the Free plan provides 100 calls each month.
Is this an address validation or verification API?
No. It is an address parser: it splits a US address string into street number, street name, street type, city, state and ZIP code, but it does not check the address against postal records or confirm that it is deliverable.
Does this handle international addresses?
No. Street Address Parser is built specifically for US street addresses. Its parsing logic is tailored to US address conventions, state abbreviations, and standard postal zip codes.
What components does the parser extract?
The parser breaks down the address into a street number, directional prefix or suffix, street name, abbreviated street type, secondary unit (Apt, Suite, #), city name, state abbreviation, and postal zip code, and echoes back the original input string. With standardize=true it also returns the address type for free, and on paid plans a mailing-format delivery line, last line and ZIP+4 extension.
Do addresses need to be pre-formatted or comma-separated?
No. You pass a single raw address string in your request. The parsing algorithm analyzes the full text and separates the components without requiring pre-split fields or strict punctuation.
Is the standardized address included on the Free plan?
Partly. Any plan can send standardize=true and get the address type (street, PO box or intersection). The delivery line, last line and ZIP+4 extension in that block come back null on the Free plan and are filled in on Starter and higher plans.
Can I store and use the parsed address data in my commercial app?
Yes, as long as you are subscribed to a paid plan. Commercial use is permitted across all paid plans, so you can store and use the parsed components inside your own software and databases. You may not resell or redistribute the raw parsed data as a standalone service.
